History
The Ashtalakshmi Kovil is a Hindu temple located on the shorelines near Elliot's beach in Chennai, India. It is dedicated to the goddess Lakshmi and her eight primary forms, known as the Ashtalakshmi, who are considered the givers of eight forms of wealth: offspring, success, prosperity, wealth, courage, bravery, food, and knowledge. The temple features a multi-tier complex designed so that visitors can visit all the shrines without stepping over any of the sanctorums.
