Sydney Kali Temple has served this city from Silverwater for many years, and we stand beside it. Our vision is a permanent home in Sydney where Maa Kali, the Dus Mahavidya and Bhagwan Chitragupta are worshipped together — not a second temple, and not a replacement for anything that already serves our community.

We invite your support in establishing that home: Maa Kali at the centre, the Dus Mahavidya in their fullness, and Bhagwan Chitragupta beside Her — a lasting cultural centre dedicated to the rich artistic traditions of Sanatan Dharma, Tantra, and the Dash Mahavidya.

Maa Kali symbolizes Primordial Shakti, representing cultural heritage rich in wisdom, symbolism, and transformative artistic expressions. Celebrated in scriptures and traditional literature, she embodies protection, wisdom, and cultural depth, inspiring countless artistic forms and narratives. Bhagwan Chitragupta belongs in the same sanctuary: Brahma himself appointed him a worshipper of Chandi, and Devi upasana has been carried by the Kayastha family ever since.

Despite the growing Hindu cultural presence in Australia, the Shakti-Tantra heritage, the Dash Mahavidya and Bhagwan Chitragupta have no permanent home of their own for worship, learning and the arts. This project aims to build one — alongside, and in support of, the places of worship already serving our community.

🪔 Who I Am ?

My name is Parag Srivastava. I live in Sydney, and I am a Kayastha — by our tradition, a descendant of Bhagwan Chitragupta, who himself arose from Lord Brahma.

​

That lineage is the reason this project exists, because it is a lineage built on Devi.

​

In the Durga Saptashati, when Madhu and Kaitabha threatened Lord Brahma, it was Maa Mahakali who saved him. From that same Lord Brahma arose Bhagwan Chitragupta — and Brahma's instruction to him was specific: आपका वास नगर कोट में रहेगा और आप चण्डी के उपासक होंगे — your dwelling shall be at Nagar Kot, and you shall be a worshipper of Chandi. Bhagwan Chitragupta then performed the upasana of Tripura Sundari, Shodashi, and attained ishta siddhi. And he directed all his sons to continue Devi upasana after him. One line holds that the son who worshipped Shri Vidya came to be called Srivastava.

So Devi saved our ancestor. Our ancestor was told to worship Her. He passed that instruction to his sons, and it reached us. When a Kayastha family stands before Maa Kali, it is not a new alignment — it is the oldest one we have. That is why this cultural centre holds Maa Kali, the Dus Mahavidya and Bhagwan Chitragupta together: they were never separate in our tradition.

Kayastha families are now spread across the world, and much of what keeps them connected is the work of Kayastha Vansh International, founded by Dr Dinesh Nigam — an organisation whose motto says it best: जितनी शाखाएँ उतने वृक्ष, as many branches, so many trees. On Chitragupta Puja, families across many countries light the same lamp on the same day. I have been part of this community for several years.

My vision was never only a temple. It was a Gurukul — a place where this tradition is not only worshipped but taught, and taught properly.

​

We began in digital form, because it could reach people immediately, and because you must be useful to people before you can ask anything of them. So Bharat Dharma Academy gives something away every day: an accurate Panchang computed for each family's own place and moment; a full Jyotish engine that casts a true birth chart from the exact time and place of birth and reads it by the classical methods — dashas, prashna, compatibility, muhurat — rather than the generic horoscopes most people are handed; a record of more than 250,000 temples and teerth sthals that is still growing; and a library of over 1,500 scriptures, with the source always shown. All of it now served through a modern AI agentic framework, so what a person receives is grounded rather than guessed. And every dated prediction we give is written down, so that months later it can be checked against what actually happened. Very little in this field is willing to be tested that way.

Over the past two years that work has helped more than 300,000 visitors, and more than 125,000 people now follow our teaching on YouTube.

​

None of that is the destination. It is how this effort earns the right to be taken seriously. Every family served builds reach, and reach builds standing — and standing is what opens the doors a project like this needs: grants, serious supporters, people in public and community life who can help, and the visibility that turns a private wish into something a whole community recognises. The digital work is not separate from the temple. It is how the temple becomes possible.

So this is the first form of the Gurukul, not its final one. As the temple takes shape, the same work becomes physical — a place where people can come, sit, learn and be taught, alongside a permanent home for Maa Kali in which our ancestors also have their place.
