History
The Barbar Temple is an archaeological site in the village of Barbar, Bahrain, associated with the ancient Dilmun culture. The site contains three successive temple structures; the most recent of the three was rediscovered by a Danish archaeological team in 1954. Two other temples were also identified, with the oldest dating back to 3000 BC. The temples were constructed of limestone blocks believed to have been carved from Jidda Island.
