History

Dadu Mandrekar was an Indian Dalit rights activist, writer, poet and photographer from Goa. He was a prominent figure in the Ambedkarite movement in Goa, working publicly for Dalit rights. Mandrekar is noted for literary works and poetry that document caste-based discrimination in Goan society, and he used photography alongside writing to record social conditions. He was also a staunch supporter of the Tibetan independence movement.
