History
The temple was built by King Indradyumna at the request of his queen, Gundicha, to serve as a retreat for the deities. It is known as the Garden House of Lord Jagannath, where the deities reside for seven days during the annual Rath Yatra festival.
Spiritual Significance
It is religiously significant as the destination where Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra stay during the sacred Rath Yatra. The temple remains a major site of pilgrimage for devotees visiting during this festival period.
