Jagan nath Temple
The Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, is dedicated to Jagannath, a form of Vishnu. According to temple records, King Indradyumna of Avanti built the main temple. The present complex was rebuilt from the eleventh century onwards on the site of earlier shrines, a project initiated by Anantavarman Chodaganga, the first ruler of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. The temple is associated with the Sri Vaishnavite tradition and incorporates rituals evolved from Shabari Tantras and tribal beliefs.
