Perched at 3,583 meters in the Himalayas near the Mandakini River, Kedarnath is among the holiest Hindu temples. The Pandavas are believed to have built the original temple. Adi Shankaracharya revived it in the 8th century. The temple survived the devastating 2013 floods miraculously when a boulder diverted the floodwaters around it.
