History

पत्तलम्मान मंदिर, थुप्पुगनपल्ली के संबंध में लिखित और निष्पक्ष ऐतिहासिक अभिलेख सीमित हैं। गाँव में मौजूद यह मंदिर लोकपरंपरा के अनुसार ग्रामदेवी (Amman) के रूप में पूजा जाता है और स्थानीय समुदाय ने वर्षों में इसका संरक्षण और मरम्मत किया है। आधिकारिक उत्खनन या शिलालेखों के अभाव में मंदिर की प्राचीनता का ठोस काल निर्धारण करना मुश्किल है; स्थानीय वर्णनों के अनुसार यह कई पीढ़ियों से ग्रामीण लोगों की रक्षा और कल्याण के लिए समर्पित रहा है। मंदिर परंपरागत तामिल ग्रामीण देवालयों की तरह सामाजिक और धार्मिक केंद्र का काम करता है। HR&CE (Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments) की सूची में होने के कारण प्रशासनिक रूप से राज्य की धार्मिक निकाय से जुड़ाव सूचित होता है, परन्तु स्थानिय स्तर पर पूजा-पाठ, उत्सव और दान अधिकतर गांववासियों द्वारा संचालित होते रहे हैं। आधुनिक काल में छोटे-छोटे नवीनीकरण हुए होंगे, पर अभिलेखों की कमी के कारण किसी विशेष राजा या शासक द्वारा निर्मित होने का विश्वसनीय प्रमाण उपलब्ध नहीं है।
