History
The Shiv Mandir of Ambarnath is a historic 11th-century Hindu temple located in Ambarnath, Maharashtra, on the bank of the Waldhuni river. Also known as the Ambreshwar Shiva Temple or Puratana Shivalaya, the structure was built in 1060 AD and is carved in stone. Historical records suggest it was likely commissioned by the Shilahara king Chhittaraja, and it may have been subsequently rebuilt by his son, Mummuni.
