History
Samarinda is the capital city of East Kalimantan, Indonesia, located on the riverbanks of lower Mahakam. It is the seventh largest city in Indonesia by area and the most populous city on Borneo, with a population estimate of around 727,500 to 865,306. As of 2026, it is divided into 10 districts and 59 urban villages.
