History

Thiruvangad Sree Ramaswami Temple is located in the eastern part of Thalassery. In the 18th century, it served as an outpost for the Thalassery fort. During this period, the temple precincts were used for conferences between East India Company officials and local leaders, where political treaties and agreements were signed. While part of the temple was damaged by Tipu Sultan's troops in the 18th century, it is believed to have been saved from total destruction.
