History
The Tripurantaka Temple was built around c. 1070 CE by the Western Chalukyas in the historically important town of Balligavi, Karnataka. The temple is in a dilapidated state and features rare erotic sculptures on its exterior walls. Balligavi was a significant seat of learning and home to many monuments built by the Chalukyas, with over 80 medieval inscriptions discovered in the area.
