Mangal Dosha — also called Manglik or Kuja Dosha — is a chart feature defined by the placement of Mars (Mangal). It is present when Mars occupies one of the houses 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 12 counted from a reference point in the chart.
Classically the check is run from three references — the Lagna (ascendant), the Moon and Venus — and is read as a marriage-matching signal that must be considered with the full chart, never in isolation. This page defines the placement only.

The Manglik houses
Mars in any of houses 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 12 from the reference point constitutes the dosha for that reference. The same house-set is applied from the Lagna, the Moon and Venus; a chart may show the placement from one reference and not another, which is why all three are examined.
