The 12 Rashis (zodiac signs), lords and elements

rashi

A rashi is one of the 12 equal 30° divisions of the zodiac — the sidereal signs used in Vedic astrology. Each rashi has a ruling graha (its lord) and belongs to one of the four classical elements (fire, earth, air, water), which cycle in order.

These rulerships and elements are fixed and form the grammar of chart reading: the lord of a sign carries that sign's affairs wherever the lord is placed.
